Having the opportunity to take part in book festivals and shows is always fun. It's one of those rare opportunities as an author and artist that I get to work with people, face to face. It's also an opportunity to teach kids (and families) of all ages how to draw.
So, it's that time again... over the years I've re-designed or updated my portfolio significantly about once a year. This latest update is a complete re-design from the ground up, showing off new images, sketches and adding in all sorts of cool stuff. Some of this stuff has been requested, other bits are things I've been meaning to add for a while.
My site now has a shop, where you can buy original art, prints, my books and various other bits and pieces. There is (finally) a section for my paintings too. Although I have painted and sold paintings for a long time, I have never actually shown my work on my site as it's generally pretty dark, or weird and not necessarily the best work to show alongside children's illustrations and cartoons. With my new site though, things are nicely sorted so those wanting to see cartoons can do easily, while those wanting to look at my paintings can too, and never the two shall meet (unless you want to see it all, then by all means check it all out.)
There is a section showing details on my past work in books and magazines as well as details on my school art/literacy sessions. If you really really want to you can also find random stuff out about me too.
The new blog section of my site will also showcase my Instagram posts, as well as posts like this one (general news and updates), posts on my newspaper column (Calvin on Culture in the Hull Daily Mail) and whatever else I can think of.
