Press Release for the book I’ve just finished working on with Michelle Traverse. Bessie The Bouncy Castle!

MOVE OVER THOMAS – HERE COMES “BESSIE THE BOUNCY CASTLE”

What child doesn’t love a bouncy castle?  Well now we can introduce you to “Bessie The Bouncy Castle”.  Michelle Traverse is Bessie’s creator and she’s hoping that her new children’s character will become the next big household name.  Being a single Mum, part-time legal secretary and helping her partner run Kids Rule (a bouncy castle and soft play hire company), Michelle had first-hand experience on how much kids adored bouncy castles and got very used to creating stories for the children if they were sad at the castles being deflated.  It was through this storytelling that Bessie was born!

After a lot of hard work, perseverance and going down the self-publishing route, Michelle now has her first book, which she hopes will be the beginning of a series of adventures for Bessie.  She has already written a second story which introduces one of Bessie’s friends, Beatrice and there are still quite a few more of Bessie’s friends waiting to be introduced!  Michelle hopes Bessie will eventually become a brand……and maybe even adapted for TV, who knows?!

“Bessie Comes to the Rescue” is a short story aimed at children aged 2 to 5 years.  Kids will love the bright and cute illustrations of the characters and the book is an easy to follow story around Bessie’s world of entertainment.  This multicultural book is a family affair, with Michelle’s 3 year old daughter, Tianna, appearing as one of the main characters and the very “catchy” Bessie Theme Song (a printed version of the music and lyrics can be found towards the back of the book) written and composed by Michelle’s father who is a professional musician.

He can be easily killed by dropping a book on him. He attracts spiders wherever he goes and often has thousands crawling over his body. He also suffers from Arachnophobia, which you can imagine is a bit of a problem.Ricky Murdock is the son of prize winning nuclear scientist, Dr Richard Murdock.Dr Murdock would often take his son along to his laboratories to witness all manor of cruel and inhuman experiments. The experiences left young Ricky traumatized and incredibly shy. He refused to play with other children and spent much of his life locked away in his bedroom, playing with his pet spiders. He amassed a large collection of spiders, big and small and learned as much as he could about each and every one of them.After annoying his volatile father on one trip to the laboratories, he was placed in a testing room and subjected to hours of radiation while buckets of his pet spiders were thrown at him (Ricky’s obsession with the spiders had often irritated Dr Murdock). Ricky’s father later claimed in a police report that he was simply trying to teach the boy some manners.Ricky was taken into care and allowed no further contact with his father. He was quickly moved into a care home in Coventry, where he would spend the next four years of his life. Over a period of six months, after his torture, Ricky began experiencing some strange side effects.The result of the (slightly sick) experiment, was that Ricky had become stricken with all of the weaknesses of a spider. She also fronted her own talk show for two seasons, where she met her future fiance Grayson Taylor, the Pro American Football star. The couple were wealthy and popular, and seemed to have everything going for them. That was until life in the worlds eye caused her training to suffer. She could never regain the fitness that led to her Olympic win, and started taking steroids in an effort to regain some of her former glory.Once at the top of her sport and loved the world over she was shamed and dismissed from competition after testing positive for illegal substances. Her records were deleted and she was stripped of all of her titles. Her husban divorced her, fearing that the relationship would tarnish his own reputation. After suffering constant torment at the hands of the press for almost six months, Jillian Spencer decided to go into hiding. She emigrated to Canada and lived alone in a custom designed and built log cabin, away from the public eye. Endless security systems and electrified fences kept her safely hidden away from the world outside.While there she developed a love for guns. Before long Jillian Spencer was designing and making her own weapons. She continued to take the steroids that led to her ban and became ever more unhinged.
