A look at a comic book page I’ve recently finished for a new project due out some time late 2011. I’m sketching and inking the whole series so it’s a nice chance to be creative with the artwork. Tons of weird creatures too which are always fun to draw.
The finished pencil sketch for the page. I tend not to put a whole lot of detail into my sketches, especially if I'm doing all of the inking too. It's sometime just more enjoyable to make stuff up as you go along!
The first bit of inking done. The foreground is reasonably simple compared to the background so all of that is done first.
The ceiling goes in and the first signs (other than the tentacles) of the monster.
The finished comic book page. The background is actually fairly different from how I first pictured it (much less city, much more shadows) but that's one of the advantages of 'making it up as you go'. Pretty pleased with this one, ten hours work or so (with plenty of coffee breaks).
The comic will be out in late 2011 but in the meantime please check out my other work at www.calvininnes.com or head on over to the Behance Network give me a thumbs up if you like the page!
